In stages, this is what we do to tar & gravel roofs: grind the stone off for recycling, apply asphalt coat to the new base apply protection board, install two plies of Modified Bitumen for a hard-working roof and once installed water, will not go through this for 25 to 30 years. Some consultants are still working on a 1970s method, this drives up the price. All roofs need service by an experienced roofer to maintain the existing roof, just try driving a car without service… For those who require a single ply roof, as this is done to code and with a good installer, has its benefits.
