Holk Charolais started with the purchase of 3 bred black charolais heifers form Gerald & Tina Stone in January of 2004. A few red factor charolais was added later, and the program was started, with the intend to produce black charolais.

A group of black charolais was purchased in the fall of 2006 from Syldon Charolais, these animals were then split between Holk Charolais and Leemar Charolais.

This influx of breeding stock speed up the process immensely.
Since then both white and tan genetics have been added to the the herd, so breeding stock ranging in color from white, tan, red to black is now available.
